We are called to train and mentor young leaders to walk out into their full callings and destinies…doing new things in new ways and in new places. We accomplish this through training and hands on opportunities, working side by side in strategic short and long term missions worldwide.
Training and Equipping of Students and Staff:
We are constantly in a live-learn environment. Our training schools are just a part of the training and equipping opportunities available here. In addition, we have regular gatherings and conferences with our greater YWAM family, staff enrichment and one on one opportunities.
Nations in Focus:
We are called to “Know God and Make Him Known”! As we “go into all the world”, we are working alongside the local church, and whenever possible, the local YWAM base in these areas. Our very first Discipleship Training School brought the Good News of Jesus Christ to Bulgaria and Turkey. Since then, we have been to Costa Rica, Ghana, Italy, Slovenia, St. Croix, Norway, Ethiopia, Sweden, Trinidad & Tobago, China, Cuba, Scotland, Mexico, Cambodia, Thailand, Panama, Kenya, and India.
Currently, we are focusing on the nations of India, Cambodia and Thailand.
Schools and Ministries
Discipleship Training School (DTS)
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is designed to help you understand God more deeply, live more like Jesus and identify your unique gifts and purpose to use in missions.
DTS is a full-time, residential training course which begins with a 12 week classroom phase, followed by an 8-12 week outreach time. The DTS emphasizes cross-cultural exposure and global awareness, preparing students to answer the call to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations” Matthew 28:19.
The Discipleship Training School is a requirement for applying as YWAM staff, and serves as a prerequisite to all other training programs.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have completed high school, to attend the DTS.
School of Leadership Development and Outreach (SOLD OUT)
This school’s objective is to see fully equipped, committed servants launched into full-time ministry. The SOMD focuses on seeing people grow in personal character, practical skills and motivation to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to see their God-given dreams fulfilled. This happens through teaching, times of processing and hands on opportunities. Ephesians 4:12 states that we are to “equip the saints for the work of ministry”, the SOMD helps to do just that! There will be an impartation of truth to you and an ability to pass it on to others in an effective way. In doing so, we will see the Kingdom of God expanded. Servant leadership is emphasized. This twelve-week course will prepare each graduate to be on staff in YWAM anywhere around the world as well as in a local church setting.
For this school you will need to complete a Discipleship Training School first.
We believe that this generation has what it takes to be God’s catalyst for change and we want to be a part of what God has in store. This summer you and your group can be a part of this vision! Join us for a short-term outreach experience designed specifically for youth groups who want to impact the world!
The heart of Mission Adventures is for God to transform the lives of those you serve and reach out to, while seeing Him work in your own life at the same time! You will walk away with an experience that will mark you forever.
We think of it as “Maintenance-Free Missions”! We want to take care of every detail. Our staff at YWAM-Charlotte are committed to you and your team. We will take care of the logistics so you are free to engage in ministry to and with your team.
We’ll do the work, so you can do the ministry. We offer domestic as well as international trips during Spring Break and Summer time. Contact us for more information!
This program is open to Junior High, High School and College aged student groups.
We are fortunate to be able to engage with our community on so many different levels. One opportunity that the Lord has opened up for us is to influence the children in our community. The ministry is called Front Porch. Each week we gather the children from the neighborhood, onto our grand Front Porch, for a healthy snack, recreation, a Bible lesson and related craft project. As we invest in the children, we have seen their homes open up to us in expressions of friendship. The positive changes we see in the children is spilling into their homes and our community. Front Porch is a model that can be replicated anywhere in the world. We are seeing individuals change…that leads to changed communities, cities and nations.
